Stencils And Paint Add New Life to Old Pieces of Furniture

Good morning, my DIY stenciling friends! Ever since Cutting Edge Stencils shared the DIY painted furniture idea shown below, we've noticed the uptick in upcycled furniture. Remember this stenciled cutie we spotted in the premiere issue of Paint It Magazine?

Are you as razzled by its design as we are? We thought so! Well did you know that upcycling furniture with paint and stencils has multiple benefits? It can add new life to your existing pieces, it's cost-effective and it's eco-friendly. Plus, there's a certain satisfaction with seeing the results of your work and knowing that you can enhance your home's design with a little creativity. Today we're going to take a look at some of the recent stenciled furniture projects by our fabulous stencil fans.

Meet Terry, the creative mind behind The Curator's Collection. She stenciled this retro-inspired dresser using our Nagoya Craft Stencil. The piece started out as an old white dresser and she gave it a fresh coat of white paint. Then she added the geometric pattern in a navy hue similar to Benjamin Moore's midnight navy 2067-10. The stenciled design gives this old dresser a fresh, funky feeling.

The wintry temps in Northern NJ have us longing for sun, sand, and stenciled starfish! Sarah from Lab & Hound is willing to please, at least with the stenciled starfish part. She recently upcycled an old dresser from the 1800's using our Starfish Allover pattern in a bright white. We love its cottage chic appeal! Vida, the designer and talented DIYer behind this piece, couldn't part with her childhood dresser. Instead she decided to give it a fancy stenciled makeover using our Shipibo Craft Stencil and Glidden's Warm Caramel metallic paint. It's absolutely lovely. We shared her gorgeous stenciled office yesterday on the blog, remember? Well she put her stencil to good use because she also used it to upcycle this old armoire. She used duck egg blue paint and our Trellis Allover Stencil to transform it into something modern and trendy. She had this to say about the stenciled piece, "This is sooo cute, Its my favourite piece of furniture at the moment."
