Stenciled Outdoor Pillows Using the Otomi Stencil Pattern

Aside from adding pumpkins and mums, stenciled outdoor pillows are the easiest way to spruce up your decor. Today we're going to hand over the blog to our sister company,
Paint-A-Pillow. We introduced Paint-A-Pillow not too long ago and you read all about that
here but to give you a quick refresher, it's an innovative stenciling kit that will allow you to create your own designer accent pillows in a snap.
We'd like to introduce Pam, the decor enthusiast behind the blog
Simple Details. Pam is no novice when it comes to stenciling. In fact, you might remember her
stenciled bedroom using the Alexa Allover in glittery gold. She took a look at the Paint-A-Pillow website and said "I was impressed and anxious to get my kit and start creating some custom pillows." Pam chose the super trendy tribal pattern, the
Otomi Paint-A-Pillow, because she liked the vivid print. She also purchased several paint colors and pillow embellishments. Here is what she created with her pillow stencil kit:
Don't you agree that this fall setting is absolutely gorgeous? We sure do! We love Pam's sense of style. Now let's talk about how you could easily recreate these pretty pillow covers.
Pam opened her box and said, "It was packaged so nicely I kept thinking what a great gift it would be.
Perfect for any age, I think anyone 8 - 80 who likes being creative would enjoy it."
Pam commented on how the pillow kit couldn't come any easier because it comes just as you see it below with the pillow cover and stencil attached to the frame. All you have to do is lift the tool kit out of the box and break out the paints.
Now that Pam had her kit, she was ready to start stenciling. She used a stencil brush to paint the tribal pattern in gold, magenta, and brown. If you're recreating this at home, be careful not to overload the brush with paint. Brush off the excess paint onto a folded paper towel until the brush looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge.
Once the entire pillow cover was painted, Pam peeled back the metal tabs holding the stencil in place and cleaned off the stencil in the sink.
The painted pillow dried quickly and Pam was ready to embellish it with tassels! She had selected standard tassels in a gold color to personalize her pillows.
