L.A. Times Touts Cutting Edge Stencils For DIY Decorating!
Cutting Edge Stencils Was Spotted In The L.A. Times Home Decor Section
Good Morning, my DIY decorators! After spotting our Charlotte Allover pattern in the September issue of
Today's Parent, we didn't think our week could get any better. Then lo and behold, a buddy of
Cutting Edge Stencils from California sent us this:
Yup, that's us shown there in black and white (oh and a touch of orange) in the
L.A. Times! YIPEE! We are just jumping up and down from all this excitement.
The
DIY decorating article, which was spotted in the Home section of the regional paper, was written by
Kyle Schuneman, interior designer and popular author of
The First Apartment Book. He talks about September being one of the most popular months to move and how busy renters may not feel as if they have the energy or time for DIY projects in a new home. So he pulled together five awesome products that make placing a personal stamp on a new space super easy. He also takes into consideration that it's not feasible for renters to paint walls, so they need simple decor projects to make their apartments stylish. We are so excited to be listed next to other fab decorating products like
MirrorMate,
Stikwood and
Fracture, but more importantly we are thrilled to be his numero uno on the list!
1. Cutting Edge Stencils: This company's “Geometric/Allover” stencils are a great way to update an old or cheap bookcase. Take out the shelves of that Billy unit from Ikea, paint the back using Cutting Edge's herringbone stencil and you will have a cool pop of color without having to touch the walls. Prices vary; herringbone is $39.95.
Now Kyle touts using our oh-so popular
Herringbone Stencil to add a cool pop of color to the back of a bookcase. We're sure he's spotted
Lolly's Jane's stunning bookcase makeover using that same pattern! This gorgeous project was also featured in
HGTV's Magazine.
More Herringbone Stenciled DIY Projects
Our stencils are reusable and once you complete your first stencil project, we're sure you'll have the stenciling itch to start another! So here are some other crafty DIY ideas using the
Herringbone Stencil.
Stenciled Rug: Paint this geometric pattern on a plain Sisal rug using a color like Benjamin Moore's
hawthorne yellow. Our fans have had a lot of success at finding inexpensive and plain rugs at Ikea and then painting a pattern to give them a designer feel. Take a look at our detailed
tutorial before you begin the project.
Stenciled Table: When you get a new place, you often want new furnishings, but it's just not feasible. So if you're staring at an old coffee table wishing it were brand new then we have a solution for you! Try painting that table and adding an awesome geometric pattern to the top surface just like our friends at
Clean and Scentsible did. It's an instant way to glam up an old coffee table!
Stenciled Wall Art:
Do you wish you could change your wall color, but can't because you're renting? We have a project that is so much better because when you move out you can take it with you! Whitney, from
A Mommy's Life with a Touch of Yellow, is a renter but she's not letting that stop her from decorating her space with color. She wanted to add a pop of yellow to her master bedroom but she couldn't actually paint the wall. So she created and stenciled an over-sized canvas. Whitney had this to say about her project, "Fun , easy, fast and beautiful!" We gotta agree!
Stenciled Door Mat: Now that you have a new place, you'll want to welcome guests in style. How about stenciling a door mat in a trendy pattern? Whitney, the crafty blogger that created the DIY wall art shown above, also created this lovely entrance rug using a plain $4.99
SINDAL Door mat from Ikea. Whitney says this project was, "Easy Peasy!" Read all about the door mat transformation over
here. We love the patterned pop of color she added to her entryway, don't you?!
